The Hato International Airport (IATA Code: CUR, ICAO: EDHL), also known as Curacao Airport, is located just a few minutes from the capital Willemstad in Curacao.
The air terminal makes connections to the Caribbean, and the major cities of South America (Colombia and Venezuela), North America (USA) and Europe (Kingdom of the Netherlands).
The terminal has about 1.6 million passengers a year.
It was built in 2006 for 44 million dollars initially to accommodate that amount of passengers, but it is being expanded to accommodate a million more. Curacao International has one of the largest runways in the Caribbean, with 3410 meters.
The airport was the operational headquarters of Air ALM and its successor Dutch Caribbean Airlines, Air ALM ceased operations in 2004. The airport is now the base of Dutch Antilles Express and Insel Air.
A total of 18 airlines operate regularly serving 23 locations across the Americas and Europe.
